The method involves operating an internal combustion engine with fuel, and sampling injection time (TE) of an injection valve (30) determined by an engine controller (10), as reference-injection time when the engine is operated with the fuel under preset operating conditions. The injection time is adjusted by the correction factors during cold run-/hot run-/partial load- and/or full load operations. The valve is operated with corrected injection time (TEK). An independent claim is also included for a device for correcting operating parameters for an injection valve.
