The engine (1) has a generator (2) connected with an air compressor i.e. spiral supercharger (4), and a turbocharger, where the compressor is arranged at an outlet side (6) of the generator. A connecting shaft (9) is arranged between the generator and the air compressor, and includes a clutch (11), where the generator and the air compressor are directly connected with each other by the connecting shaft. A variable step-up gear (14) is arranged between the generator and the compressor. The variable step-up gear is assigned to a compressor-lateral shaft section (13) at a compressor side.
