The fuel supply device (25) has a supply pump (5), a high pressure pump (10) and a flow limiting throttle (6) in a supply line (4) for the supply pump. The flow limiting throttle is mechanically coupled with an overflow valve (16) by which the pressure of the fuel, is adjusted. The flow limiting throttle is controlled by a volume dependent pressure drop in a control line (11) of the overflow valve.
