The device has a locking device (7) formed by a piston-cylinder arrangement (8) with a cylinder housing (9), and a working piston (10) for dividing the housing into two working chambers (11, 12). An electro-rheological or magneto-rheological valve (14) is arranged at a circumference (13) of the piston or in the piston as a gap (15) or an opening between the chambers. Variable magnetic or electric field is applied at the valve for changing flow resistance of electro-rheological or magneto-rheological fluid (16) in the chambers till the gap or the opening is blocked.
