The device has a row (8) of illuminating elements (9) which are extended over the width (7) of a commercial vehicle and are arranged in a transition region (10) between a windshield (6) and a dashboard (1). The illuminating elements are switchable against spatial position of an obstacle in scanning area, where the spatial position of the obstacle is detected by a sensor.
