The method involves inputting loading data by an input device corresponding to loads caused on a real cabriolet vehicle (1), where the input device is connected with a process device. The loads transmitted to a convertible soft top simulation unit (9) over connection points are calculated by the process device. Critical positions of the convertible soft top simulation unit are identified by the process device with respect to characteristics to be determined. Evaluation results are outputted at a display device that is connected with the process device.
