The machine (1) e.g. electric motor (2) or generator (3), has a closed housing (4), a stator (6), a shaft (22), and a rotor (5) arranged within the housing. A fluid-flow machine (8) circulates air within the housing. The fluid-flow machine is driven by a fan electric motor (9), and/or the closed housing and two ventilation circuits are impermeable to fluid e.g. water, with respect to an environment of the machine. The fluid-flow machine is designed as a fan impeller (10) or a fan (12), where fan blades (11) are arranged at the fan impeller.
