The generator (1) has a booster pellet (3) igniting a main gas set (2), which is formed as a single-piece structure. The main gas set forms a booster chamber (11) in which the booster pellet is arranged. The chamber is formed in a form of a cavity in the main gas set, so that the main gas set forms a side wall of the chamber. The cavity is formed in a form of a through hole by the main gas set. An igniter (4) for igniting the booster pellet is activated by a control signal. The chamber is accessible over an aperture (111) in a side (21) of the main gas set. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a gas generator.
