The device (1) has a carrier rail (2) carrying protection components i.e. protection boxes (3a-3d), which protect an object to be presented. The boxes are displaceably mounted on the carrier rail and displaced between a protection position in which the object is protected against unauthorized removal, and a removal position in which the object is removed. Positions of the boxes at the carrier rail are fixed by a blocking device (4) in the protection position. The boxes are positioned above a box (7) of the blocking device in the removal position.
