The steering system has a steering ratio between a steering handle and the vehicle-wheels, where the steering ratio is changeable by an electronic control unit as defined by a servo control. The vehicle wheels are steerable by actuating the steering handle. The predetermined value of the steering ratio for the driving condition is multiplied with a correction factor in non-critical driving conditions of the motor vehicle. The correction factor reproduces the ratio of actually determined actual-yaw amplification to predetermined target-yaw amplification.
