The method involves encoding a transmitted signal, where the transmitted signal represents operating conditions of traffic lights in a traffic system (1). The encoded transmitted signal is transmitted, received and decoded. The operating conditions are represented on a display unit (6) e.g. red color LED. The transmitted signal is received in an industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band range. The transmitted signal is directed to an approaching vehicle i.e. bus. The transmitted signal is encoded and decoded as a digital signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a traffic system comprising traffic lights (2) a traffic signal repeater comprising a receiver.
