The method involves storing measurement values of a radar module (14), where the stored measurement values of the radar module is correlated with measurement values of another radar module (16) in such a manner that car axles of representing measurement signals are temporally set with each another to cover. A position of cars is recognized from a position of right rear and front edges of cars detected by the radar modules. Distance of the car axles from a right front edge of the car is determined by one of the radar modules. An independent claim is also included for a radar velocity measuring unit for road traffic, comprising a radar module.
