The device has two transponders (1, 2) with different characteristics movable relative to a shield (3). The shield is moved relative to the transponders from one position to another position by the relative movement of the transponders. An evaluation circuit (5) for a paired comparison of detection of the transponders through a receiver (4) i.e. read/writing instrument, is formed with stored recognition states for monitoring an opening state of a door of a vehicle. The transponders are arranged on a common structure.
