Distraction device for distraction osteogenesis of patient, has guide rail directly connected with magnets e.g. permanent magnets, by drive mechanism, where forces for moving guide rails are transferred against each other by magnets
The device has two anchor plates (1, 2) which are arranged parallel to each other or aligned together. Two guide rails (3, 4) are connected with the anchor plates and are aligned vertical to the anchor plates. The guide rails are moved against each other and are arranged parallel together. A driving mechanism (5) releases or controls motion of the guide rails against each other. One of the guide rails is directly connected with magnets (6) e.g. permanent magnets or electrical magnets, by the mechanism, and forces for moving the guide rails are transferred against each other by the magnets. An independent claim is also included for a method for performing callus distraction.
