The model railway consists of a rail system and associated carriages (1). The rail or rails consists of permanent magnets (5) on which the carriages, which likewise have permanent magnets on their undersides, are magnetically supported and guided. The rail magnets are composed of combined individual permanent magnets. Drive motors to propel the track magnets, and hence the train, may be battery-driven and remotely controlled, e.g. by radio.
