The thermocouple has electric conductors (16, 18) extending parallel to longitudinal axis within a coating element (10) and across an open end region (14). The coating element is filled with a fill material (20). A thermal contact (22) between the conductors is surrounded by additional fill material (30), and a closure element (26) is provided in the open end region. The closure element is made of glasses, where the glasses are in powder form or introduced as pasty material into the coating element, and melted and cured. The coating element, a cover (24) and/or a sleeve are made of metal. The coating element and the sleeve are formed as a pipe section. The cover is provided at a closed end region. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a thermocouple.
