The mechanism has a shovel front part (3) and a rear wall (2) which move relative to each other in opening and/or closing direction. The shovel front part is provided with sectioned tooth elements (8), where the rear wall includes a receiving unit (4) for a stem end region of an excavator and pivot points (6) for hydraulic cylinders (7). The shovel front part and the rear wall include two connection regions (9), where the regions form an articulated swiveling region (13) and a hinge element (12) for the shovel front part and the hydraulic cylinder, respectively.
