The device (10) has an embossing contour (18) forming a flange of a sheet joint and another embossing contour (22) forming reinforcing structure of the sheet joint. The embossing contours are formed on a single-piece embossing tool (16), and a cutting contour forms a through-hole enclosing the flange. The latter embossing contour embosses a roughing tool complemented to the latter embossing contour. A sheet (20) is fixed between the embossing tool and a counter support (14) via a blank holder (28).
