The appliance e.g. battery-powered drill (1), has an electric motor (2), and a voltage supply supplying load to the motor. The load is switched off or disconnected when electrical voltage of the voltage supply below and/or exceeds a limit value and/or individual voltage of the voltage supply below and/or exceeds the limit value. The appliance is switched-on and/or switched-off by a switch (5) comprising a switch housing (13). A microcontroller (9) is provided in the switch housing and controlled by software used as electronics for control of the motor.
