The method involves emitting sound energy in the water by a floating body. A measurement is obtained for approaching the torpedo by the floating body from a torpedo which initiates noise and from the noise level. An explosive charge is ignited during the approach of the torpedo at the floating body, particularly by overflow or underflow. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a defending method.
