The device (2) has a current-to-voltage converter (22) for converting current of an electrical wire into a voltage level for comparing the voltage level with a voltage level defined by adjustment of default value. An alarm device (23) e.g. loudspeaker or LED, emits an alarm signal when the converted voltage value exceeds the adjusted value. An adjustment button (24) selects and adjusts a preset triggering value for the detected load. A lighting device (25) uses an electrical power supply created by the wire to supply the electrical energy necessary for the operation of the lighting device.
