The method involves forming a hollow section beam that is in communication with an interior volume by joining walls (2,3) of a single-piece envelope by assembling a primary component i.e. space bar (5), with a secondary component (6) i.e. petrol pump, where the primary component is in contact with one of the walls. The secondary component is fixed to the latter wall, where the secondary component has a beam forming function other than reinforcement of a fuel tank (1) and fuel storage. The envelope is made of a synthetic material.
