The method involves determining deformation of a driving shaft (1), and defining n-sections in the shaft. Radial fluttering is carried out on circumference of the sections, and radial direction of a point corresponding to extreme value of fluttering is identified. A value and radial direction of mass to be removed or added on the circumference of the shaft in balancing planes (3) is determined from fluttering values and radial directions and from amplitude of deformation at the level of chosen circumference of sections.
