The device has a compressed air reservoir (1) provided with a pressure regulator (2) of supply distributor valves (3, 4). The valves are actuated by a control cam to produce compressed air bubbles that are directed into cylinders (5, 6) to rotate a lever arm (7) or toothed plate to drive an assistance motor shaft (9) connected to a drive wheel of cycle. The cam is secured to a pedal assembly driving a cycle. The cam produces alternated, swinging and optimized assistance pulse with respect to the movement of pedal by action on the supply distributor valves and exhaust distributor valves.
