The method involves taking a piece i.e. electromagnetic sucker, in direct current by gradual increase in value of intensity current and/or releasing the piece in alternating current by gradual decline in value of current intensity. An electromagnetic coil is supplied by an electronic power supplying device in a chopper mode with a duty cycle (alpha) and chopping frequency (f). The current intensity value is increased by making gradual variation of the duty cycle and the chopping frequency remaining constant. An independent claim is also included for a gripping system comprising an electromagnetic device for gripping a piece.
