The method involves providing activation of a brake pedal (10) of a motor vehicle (1), when the vehicle moves from a traction mode to a thrust mode. A stoplight (5) is activated with an intensity of current lower than a threshold value, when an accelerator pedal (15) of the vehicle is released. The stoplight is activated with an intensity of current greater than the threshold value when the brake pedal is activated. An independent claim is also included for an installation of controlling a motor vehicle.
