The apparatus has a frame (2) for maintaining a snap on female part (81) formed by a hooking unit (71), where the female part comprises a receiving opening for receiving the hooking unit. A displacement device (3) i.e. jack type displacement device, is assembled on the frame, and supports the hooking unit. The displacement device is moved between positions. A measuring device (4) measures an effort curve of the displacement device during displacement of the displacement device between the positions. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring snap-on or snap-off efforts between complementary snap-on units.
