Ship's counter-piracy main engine start air blocking system

A start air remote blocking system for immobilising a ship's main engine(s) 7 from any restarting once activated. A motorised on/off valve 6 situated between the air receiver 5 and main engine may be activated using a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) unit 2, which may be controlled from a password protected Graphical User Interface Terminal 1 situated on the bridge, or engine control room. Once activated the motorised valve may remain closed for a pre-set period of 10 hours, after which time the motorised valve may be once again opened automatically. All of the enclosures containing the motorised valve control elements may be secured with high security fasteners. The system is used as a means to counter piracy hijack attempts. A GPS system 8 may be provided so that a record of the ship's position at the time of the immobiliser system activation can be kept.
