PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map conversion technique capable of converting a depth map so as to provide more satisfactory feeling of depth within a reproducible depth range, relating to display of a three-dimensional image.SOLUTION: Relating to the display of a three-dimensional image, the map conversion device calculates a cumulative histogram expressing accumulation of the existence frequency of depth, using the depth map indicating, for each pixel, the depth of an image area including the pixels of a part of an input image, and converts the depth map in the input image to a depth map indicating, for each pixel, the depth within a depth range at an output destination, using the cumulative histogram.
