PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To authorize an individual who has downloaded a first version of a media file to download a second version of the same media file.SOLUTION: A method of doing business over a network includes, in a first transaction, providing a first version of a digital media file to a customer. The first version of the digital media file is compressed with a first codec. In a second transaction, the method includes providing a second version of the digital media file to the customer. The second version of the digital media file is compressed with a second codec. During the first transaction, an authorization is granted to the customer for the second version of the digital media file.
