PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a layered rare earth hydroxide, a method for producing the same and application thereof.;SOLUTION: The layered rare earth hydroxide is represented by the general formula: Ln₂(OH)₄SO₄ nH₂O (1n3), wherein Ln includes at least one trivalent rare earth ion. The layered rare earth hydroxide has a pillar structure comprising host layers of Ln hydroxy polyhedrons and sulfate ion located between the host layers, wherein oxygen atoms in the sulfate ion bond directly to Ln in the adjacent host layers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
