PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a value of a liquid crystal display panel as a commercial product by eliminating a step between surface glass of the liquid crystal display panel and a protective plate, formed due to the thickness of a black mask.;SOLUTION: The method for forming a light-blocking black mask at the periphery of a display region of a display panel in the display device that is formed by superposing a transparent protective plate on the surface of the display panel that is configured to apply light from the rear surface. The method includes: forming a recess with a predetermined width at least in either one of the display panel and the protective plate, and disposing a light blocking member in the recess.
