PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chlorine dioxide controlled releasing agent by which various kinds of effects owned by a chlorine dioxide gas can be kept for a long period of time, and to provide the chlorine dioxide controlled releasing agent contained in a container.SOLUTION: The chlorine dioxide controlled releasing agent X includes a fiber material 10 equipped with an extremely thin water-absorbent fiber 1 which swells in the diametrical direction by absorbing a chlorine dioxide dissolved liquid in which chlorine dioxide is dissolved, and also, of which the diameter is 1 to 100 m. Also, in the chlorine dioxide controlled releasing agent contained in the container Y, the fiber material 10 is molded into a sheet shape, and a plurality of sheet-like fiber materials 10 are housed in the housing container 20 in a state in which the sheet-like fiber materials 10 are laminated at least in the vertical direction.
