PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake system for a Shinkansen vehicle in which an idle running time can be shortened in order to shorten the idle running distance.;SOLUTION: The brake system for the Shinkansen vehicle includes a brake control device 200 which receives an emergency brake command EB and generates air pressure P1 of magnitude corresponding to the command EB, a pressure generating unit 310 having a pressure regulating valve 311 regulating an air pressure to the air pressure P2 of previously decided magnitude and a solenoid valve 312 performing selection whether the air pressure P2 is output in accordance with only the command EB or not, a double check valve 320 in which the air pressure P1 and P2 are input, and a higher pressure out of the input air pressures P1 and P2 is made to flow selectively, and a pressure intensifying cylinder 500 converting the air pressure selected by the double check valve 320 to oil pressure.
