PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the orientation of gold nanorods by the concentration of the gold nanorods, and to provide a substrate having oriented gold nanorods thereon.;SOLUTION: In the method for orienting gold nanorods (AuNR) into a fixed direction on a substrate, comprising providing an aqueous dispersion of the AuNR modified with a surfactant on the substrate and evaporating a solvent while applying a magnetic field to the dispersion, the orientation direction of the AuNR is controlled by the concentration of the AuNR.
