The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a polymer by light-to-heat conversion using gold nanorods. Specifically, the present invention relates to the method for manufacturing a polymer by light-to-heat conversion, comprising a method of controlling a solution temperature through a local temperature of the gold nanorod using a thermal phenomenon generated by irradiating light on the gold nanorod and performing a polymeric polymerization reaction using the local temperature. The above method has an advantage of being able to reduce abuse of more heat than is needed to heat a solution and to synthesize materials having different physical properties by controlling a difference between the solution and gold nanorod local temperature.
