It administered mutation inducement processing to the seed or the callus of the rice plant, when the rice plant was played back it succeeded in obtaining some dwarf individuals. Superiority or inferiority relationship of the dwarf gene is inspected concerning the said dwarf individual, 4 mutants where dwarf character is inherited to dominance: It succeeded in obtaining SLRD1-SLRD4. The result of analysis of the cause gene of dwarf of the above-mentioned 4 mutants, the cause gene of the above-mentioned 4 mutants showed allelism mutually, had originated in the point mutation of the Slr1 gene where each of them rides to the 4th chromosome. When the dwarf mutant and the wild type Indian kind and the Japanese type kind which are obtained hybridization it could point, mixed-breed 1st generation (F1) phenotype showed incomplete dominance vis-a-vis plant length, in each case showed semi- dwarf. It became clear for the hybrid rice of semi- dwarf and breeding the fixed kind of dwarf to be possible by utilizing the above-mentioned mutation gene.
