PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out determination more precisely when determining the potential risk of the side effects of irinotecan by detecting the genetic polymorphism of UDP-glucuronosyltransferase.SOLUTION: A method for determining the potential risk of the side effects of the irinotecan includes determining that to which type in a normal type, a hetero type, and a variant type the genetic polymorphism of the UDP-glucuronosyltransferase in a subject belongs, by a hybridization method of a pair of nucleic acid probes for determining whether the following genetic polymorphisms: UGT1A1*28; UGT1A1*6; UGT1A1*27; and UGT1A1*60 in the UDP-glucuronosyltransferase gene are the wild type or the variant type, with an amplified nucleic acid obtained by an amplification reaction using a genomic DNA derived from a biological sample of the subject as a template.
