PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game device using handwriting recognition for progressing a game while adding a new image on the basis of a handwriting image inputted by a player, an image operation method in game device and a program therefor. SOLUTION: The coordinate data of the handwriting input image inputted from a handwriting input and display device 3 are converted from the change portion of the coordinate data of each point of the handwriting input image to a set of coordinate data and angle data of the starting point of the image in an image processing part 4 according to the instruction from a CPU 1. The CPU 1 compares the handwriting input image with the model data of image preliminarily prepared in a ROM 2 to discriminate it. A characteristic point is extracted every kind from the discriminated handwriting input image, and the image processing part 4 modifies the characteristic point to form a new image. When the image with the modified characteristic point is formed, only the characteristic point part of the handwriting input image is substituted by the modified image to form a new image for animation display.
