PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer program for inexpensively achieving the efficiency of a code reading operation.;SOLUTION: This code reading device equipped with an imaging means and a code reading means is made to function as an image capturing means for periodically capturing an image within an image pickup range by operating the imaging means in a standby status for the reading of a code; a monitor means for dividing the image area of the image captured by the image capturing means into the prescribed number of blocks, and for, when one or more specific blocks are defined as monitor blocks, comparing image components between corresponding monitor blocks in front and back images to be periodically captured, and for monitoring the change quantity of image components in the monitor blocks; an intrusion detection means for detecting the intrusion of a medium surface within the image pickup range based on the detection information of the change quantity of the image components in a standby status for the reading of the code; and a trigger command output means for outputting a trigger command to start the reading operation of the code when the intrusion is detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
