PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for &bgr;,&bgr;-difluoro-α,&bgr;-unsaturated carbonyl compound, which more easily and practically produces a &bgr;,&bgr;-difluoro-α,&bgr;-unsaturated carbonyl compound and is suited to be used as an industrial production method.SOLUTION: In the production method for &bgr;,&bgr;-difluoro-α,&bgr;-unsaturated carbonyl compound, a silyl enol ether is obtained by silylating a &bgr;,&bgr;,&bgr;-trifluorocarbonyl compound, in the presence of a base and using a silylation reagent, and a &bgr;,&bgr;-difluoro-α,&bgr;-unsaturated carbonyl compound is obtained from the silyl enol ether in the presence of a Lewis acid.
