PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground tint superimposing apparatus capable of more accurately performing answer detection processing, regarding the presence or the absence of checks in check boxes on a document. PSOLUTION: A ground tint superimposing apparatus is provided for superimposing a ground tint pattern on a document having an answer column; and the ground tint superimposing apparatus comprises at least a superimposing section for acquiring mask information having information on coordinates of the answer column, and for superimposing the ground tint pattern on a portion, excluding the answer column, of the document on the basis of the mask information.
