PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an item editing device, an item editing method and a program, in which a directory tree obtained by hierarchizing information recorded in an optical storage medium such as CD or DVD with a desired development layer number and a desired character string size can be laid out on a label surface of the optical storage medium. PSOLUTION: A label editor part 27 includes a directory tree editing part 41, an item information store part 47, an item position designation part 42, a development layer number designation part 43, a character string size designation part 44, an attribute information generation part 45, and an item layout part 46. According to this, directory trees are printed on the label surface of the optical storage medium in a character size such that the user can identify the printed directory tree.
