PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identity a contrast intensified blood vessel in digital 3D image data.;SOLUTION: One image voxel belonging to a blood vessel in the 3D image data is selected as a species point (sp), a current threshold T to the intensity of the image voxel is selected as the intensity of species point (sp), and the species point (sp) is allocated to the threshold T. According to the check reference for finding a new species point, a new species point (sp) is retrieved in the image voxel making contact with the species point, and allocated to a threshold determined depending upon the intensity and the current threshold. The found species point (sp) is stored as a blood vessel voxel belonging to the blood vessel, and allocated to the current threshold T to decrease the current threshold T. The blood vessel is identified as a set of all blood vessel voxels in the image data. Preliminary knowledge causing incorrect identification in a special relation to the blood vessel to be identified by a suitable step, and at least one of the above steps is altered or expanded under the consideration of preliminary knowledge.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
