PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system configured to carry out printing at a high speed by reducing an unused region of an ink ribbon in a thermal printer.;SOLUTION: The printing system in the thermal printer includes a printing object feed means 4 which intermittently controls to feed a printing object 1 of a width size Fw along a feed direction X1, a head reciprocation means 7 which intermittently controls to move a thermal printer body 6 back and forth along a direction Y1 orthogonal to the feed direction X1 of the printing object 1, an ink ribbon feed means 10 which intermittently controls to feed the ink ribbon 9 loaded in the thermal printer body 6 along the same direction as the feed direction X1 of the printing object 1, and a control means which controls the printing object feed means 4, the head reciprocation means 7 and the ink ribbon feed means 10.
