PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength corrosion resistant stainless steel material for implants or the like to the living body, accessories or the like used in contact with the skin, a mucous membrane or the like, and kitchen equipment or the like, which does not cause allergies by a metallic product, particularly, by Ni, and further does not exert adverse influence on the human body owing to its nonmagnetic properties. PSOLUTION: The nickel-free high nitrogen stainless steel having excellent corrosion resistance, strength, formability and wear resistance has a chemical componential composition comprising, by mass%, 0C0.08, 0Si0.50, 0Mn1.50, 15Cr30, 0Ni0.05, 1Mo10, 1.00Ni2.00 and 0Ca0.005, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which, regarding each content of the above Cr, Mo and N, a corrosion resistance index represented by inequalities including Cr, Mo and N satisfies the relation between the area occupancy ratio of nonmetallic inclusions in the steel and the maximum diameter of the nonmetallic inclusions in the steel, and has the cleaning properties of the nonmetallic inclusions.
