PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain oxide powder with a perovskite structure such as barium titanate powder which has a particle size of =0.2 μm, has a high c/a axial ratio of =1.0033, and exhibits sufficient dielectric properties. SOLUTION: Metallic hydroxide powder such as barium hydroxide powder and metallic oxide powder such as titanium oxide powder having a specific surface area of =10 m2 /g are mixed. This powdery mixture is subjected to heat treatment at 600 to 1,100 deg.C in an air atmosphere under the total pressure of 1×10-2 Pa or lower to obtain the oxide powder with a perovskite structure such as barium titanate powder.
