The masonry reinforcement of the present invention comprises a main reinforcement and a reinforcement stirrup (1, 21), wherein the main reinforcement has a defined thickness and the reinforcement stirrup (1, 21), is made of wire material and comprises: a) an essentially flat support section (13, 22) and at least one flat stirrup leg (2) which, when the reinforcement stirrup (1, 21) is in use, extends essentially vertically up from the support section (13, 22) for inclusion in a joint between constructional elements (20); b) positioning means for an essentially horizontally extended main reinforcement, which means, when in use, extends from the plane of the support section (13, 22) and lies essentially outside the support section (13, 22) plane and extends in a direction opposite to that of the stirrup leg (2); c) the plane of the stirrup leg (2) intersecting the plane of the support section (13, 22) within the bounds of the support section (13, 22); d) the positioning means being formed by a hook (24) with the stem (14) of the hook (24) lying in the plane of the support section (13, 22) and the arm (15) of the hook (24) extending essentially parallel to the support section (13, 22); e) the arm (15) of the hook (24) being situated at a distance from the plane of the support section (13, 22), which is substantially equal to the thickness of the main reinforcement.
