The present invention provides a method and system of providing security to Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) operations in a home network environment. In one embodiment, a request is received from a control point (CP) to execute an UPnP action associated with an UPnP service. It is determined whether the CP is having an appropriate role to execute the UPnP action based on an access control list (ACL) data associated with the UPnP service. The ACL data includes a set of ACL elements, each of the set of ACL elements includes an UPnP action element, a filter element, and a roles elements.
