The invention relates to a decorative holder for a light source, particularly suitable for holding a tea light, comprising four panels together forming an outer tube, which outer tube has a decorative function in addition to its structural function, two side wall parts which mutually engage by means of notches and form an inner tube, which inner tube can support the light source laterally, and two bottom parts. The invention further relates to a blank for such a decorative holder. The invention moreover relates to a greetings card formed from such a blank and to a greetings card formed from such a holder, this holder being in a flat state not functional as holder. The invention furthermore relates to a method for assembling such a decorative holder from such a blank, which method comprises the steps of moving the first side wall part and the second side wall part toward each other such that the first notch and second notch come to lie substantially in line with respectively the third notch and fourth notch, allowing the first side wall part and the second side wall part to mutually engage by pressing them toward each other, and folding out the bottom parts such that the third angle is directed toward the second side wall part and the fourth angle is directed toward the first side wall part.
